Billy Murdoch: Cricketing Colossus - BendigoWednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM (AEST) More Information →
Billy Murdoch, born and bred in Bendigo, was a colossus of cricket in the 1880s captaining Australia to its first Test victory on English soil.
A batsman of substance and style he scored Australia’s first double and triple Test centuries. He lived a tumultuous and fascinating life from his controversial marriage to Bendigo mining magnate John Boyd Watson’s daughter to his dramatic death while watching a Test at the MCG. Join biographer Richard Cashman who provides long overdue recognition to a great but neglected figure of Australian cricket.
